Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium

Late last night, I found myself wanting to watch a movie. After about an hour of trying to find a movie to watch (I’m really indecisive), I ended up watching Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium – one of my absolute favorite movies.

Mr. Magorium (Dustin Hoffman) is this eccentric 243 year-old owner of a fantastic toy store (the wonder emporium). He gives the toy store to Molly Mahoney (Natalie Portman), a struggling pianist who works at the store, when he believes his time has come to move on in life. When he hands over the store, strange things begin to take place in the toy store.

It’s a little crazy, it doesn’t make too much sense, the story-line is all over the place, and it’s just an overall strange movie. But I love it. It’s funny and has the best life lessons.

Some of my favorite quotes from the movie:

“When King Lear dies in Act V, do you know what Shakespeare has written? He’s written “He dies.” That’s all, nothing more. No fanfare, no metaphor, no brilliant final words. I recommend the movie to anyone who wants an hour and a half of laughs; you won’t regret it!
