Take Care of Yourself

These past few days, I haven’t been feeling too great. Physically and mentally, I’ve just been feeling under the weather. When this happens, I just can’t get out of bed. It’s awful, I make myself feel even worse by isolating myself in my room and it get’s worse and worse. This is just kind of a reminder to myself and to anyone feeling this way: take care of yourself.

Get out of your room and get outside, be around people. I find that being around my family helps a lot. Even if I’m just sitting around with them or if I take my laptop upstairs and just hang around them, it helps being around them and being around conversation and laughter. Or go outside; get some air and breathe. Get some Vitamin D – it helps, as hard as it is to get up and get out, it helps your mental stability and that’s what’s most important.

Another thing is, drink water and eat something. When I feel sick, in any way, I shut down in a lot of ways and I don’t like drinking water and I lose my appetite and I really just fall behind on everything. So going out of my way to drink tea or make myself a freezing cold bottle of water, that all helps and it adds up.

Also, get some exercise and sweat it all out. Release some endorphins – that helps mentally and physically. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, any physical activity will help you feel better. My favorite thing is strength training, or lifting weights. Just turn up the music and lift heavy things, that’s all there is to it. Shut off the world and just do it. It makes you feel better, stronger, and you feel better about yourself after you’ve lifted more than you think you can.

Pay attention to yourself and take care of yourself. You are a priority and you matter.

  1. I think it’s important to keep these seemingly simple things in mind. Thank you for the reminder, I plan on working my way through some of these in the next few hours!
